Professional Line editing, Copy editing,
Proofreading Services, plus more.
I’m Erica Anderson, and I really appreciate you taking the time to visit my website. I hope you find the information you need, and if you don’t, feel free to contact me directly. I’m here to help!
I have been a writer since I was eight years old. Over the years, I grew from writing poetry and short stories to now writing copy as well as self-help books in an effort to inspire the world to seek personal development.
Although I went to college to study Information Technology, the knack for writing never went away. In this time frame, I began to edit and proofread for those around me. Over the years, I developed my editing skills and gained the majority of my experience during my tenure in Corporate America. In 2017, I launched Editing By Erica as a result of partnering with publishers to assist authors with completing their book writing goals.
My primary niche is Personal Development and Self-Help, however I have gained experience in both fiction and non-fiction works, including YA and children’s books.
There is no greater pleasure than to assist people with putting life to the words they create. I’m excited to partner with you and help you to ensure the accuracy of the words you put together.
Line Editing is often referred to as “heavy copy editing” however, during the process of line editing, errors are not the focus. This particular service focuses on the way language is used throughout the text as well as the way in which your words communicate to the mind of your reader. Effective line editing can add “layers” to your story, by improving the narrative digressions, scene transitions, and bland language use.
Copy Editing involves the rewriting of sentences and paragraphs for flow. The goal is to improve the text by reducing wordiness, confirming the accuracy of general information, ensuring the consistency of terminology and mechanics, and other technical aspects of editing. Sometimes a project can be determined only to need “light” copy editing, or “heavy” copy editing depending on the quality of the text.
Proofreading is generally the easiest type of editing to perform although it still requires great attention to detail. This set of corrections should be performed on a “proof” or printed version of your work, thus the name Proofreading. However, many editors or authors don’t do it this way. This process captures errors pertaining to spelling and grammar, punctuation, syntax, and typographical errors among other things.
Other services provided are copywriting, content creation and formatting for KDP. I write copy for web pages, brochures, and advertisements just to name a few. The goal is to capture the attention of your target audience by making your brand stand out and encourage that audience to answer the call to action. Email me at email@example.com for questions or to book writing services.
To get started, you will need submit some details about your project, upload a copy of your manuscript and pay a $100 deposit, which will be applied to your invoice. Once completed, you will be provided with an invoice and an editing agreement. The agreement outlines the details you provided about the manuscript, the services being provided as well as legalities such as liability and non-disclosure clauses. Most agreements are written with 21 day terms.
Once the signed agreement is received, I will perform two editing passes. Copyediting and line editing will be the primary focus on the first pass. A draft of the initial changes will be sent for approval. You will have the opportunity to accept or reject changes and respond to the Inquiry sheet, which outlines questions I may have concerning interpretation or clarification of text. I also use the inquiry sheet to share feedback about the manuscript as I’m working through it. Once this step is completed, I will incorporate any changes discussed then polish the document by updating any remaining errors and conducting the final proofreading. Formatting is the final step if this service has been requested.
If you have any questions, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to working with you!
